INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS (w.e.f: 1st September 2016)


The Passport Department at the Uganda High Commission is open to the public for submissions and collections between Monday to Friday from 10:00a.m. to 1:00pm only (except on Public Holidays in Uganda and the United Kingdom).

Applications for passports may be submitted by mail or in person. A stamped, self addressed, registered envelope with sufficient postage (special or recorded delivery) must be included with applications submitted by mail.

It takes 21 working days for a passport application to be processed from the date the High Commission receives the application. Please only contact the High Commission regarding your passport after 21 working days has passed.


APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:


PASSPORT RENEWAL

1. Fully completed Form A, Form B and the Consular Registration Form Incomplete forms may cause delay to the passport renewal process.

2. Two (2) identical passport size photographs.  Must be coloured and show all facial features and both ears. The photographs must have a clean white background. Applicants are advised NOT to take their photos in a photo booth. 

3. The old passport to be renewed/replaced (you will get this back with your new passport.)

4. If you are changing your profession as stated in your current passport, you must provide a letter from your employer confirming your job title. If this is not provided, your profession will remain as in your current passport.

5. Fee: 75.00 payable by card (in person) or Postal Money Order (payable to Uganda High Commission

6. If you would like the High Commission to send back your new passport by post, applicants must include a special delivery stamped addressed envelope.

Please note that passports may be renewed six months before the expiry date.


FIRST CHILD PASSPORT

1. Fully completed Form A, Form B and the Consular Registration Form

2. Two (2) identical passport size photographs. Must be coloured and show all facial features and both ears. The photographs must have a clean white background. Applicants are advised that photos should NOT be taken in a photo booth.

3. Original Birth Certificate stating names of parents.

4. Original Passport for either parent named on the original birth certificate.

5. Fee: 75.00 payable by card (in person) or Postal Money Order (payable to Uganda High Commission)

6. If you would like the High Commission to send back your new passport by post, applicants must include a special delivery stamped addressed envelope.


LOST PASSPORT

1. Fully completed Form A, Form B and the Consular Registration Form

2. Two (2) identical passport size photographs. Must be coloured and show all facial features and both ears. The photographs must have a clean white background. Applicants are advised that photos should NOT be taken in a photo booth.

3. A copy of your old passport if you have one.

4. Police Report if available.

5. Sworn Affidavit/Statutory Declaration pertaining to citizenship and the fact surrounding loss of the passport.

6.   Fee: 150 payable by card (in person) or Postal Money Order (payable to Uganda High Commission)

DAMAGED PASSPORT

1. Fee: 150 payable by card (in person) or Postal Money Order (payable to Uganda High Commission)


CHANGE OF NAMES (documents to attach)

As a result of marriage: 

1. Formal written request for changes to be made.

2. Original marriage certificate.

As a result of circumstance:

1. Formal written request 

2. Changes of names as a result of circumstances will have to be gazetted. The Deed Poll should be published in The Uganda Gazette

Original copies of the Deed Poll and The Uganda Gazette containing the change of name must be submitted to the Mission and will be retained for the record.


EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT

1. Fully completed Form A, Form B and the Consular Registration Form. Incomplete forms will delay the renewal process.

2.  Two (2) identical passport size photographs. Must be coloured and show all facial features and both ears. The photographs must have a clean white background. 

3. Formal written request for an Emergency Travel Document including 6 contacts in Uganda.

4. Fee: 80 payable by card (in person) or Postal Money Order (payable to Uganda High Commission)

Note:

i) An Emergency Travel Document is a one-way travel document to Uganda and it can only be issued after exhaustive inquiries have been made. Passports reported lost will be declared null and void.

ii) Application for an Emergency Travel Document for Minors (under 16) must be accompanied by

(a) Written consent from parents;

(b) Passport of the parents;

(c) Original Birth Certificate;

(d) One passport photograph of both parents.

iii) An Emergency Travel Document is valid for seven (7) days from date of issue.


Important Notes

1. Applicants for Passport /Travel Documents must be citizens of Uganda

2. All application forms must be fully completed. Uncompleted application forms will not be processed.

3. Applicants are advised to verify and ensure that all requirements have been fulfilled. This will facilitate the expeditious processing of applications.

4. Applications by post must be accompanied by a stamped, self-addressed registered envelope

5. Applicants are requested to send the exact money for all fees paid

6. Applicants may be requested for additional supporting documentation, in addition to the above.

7. Passports are processed on first come first serve basis.


Don't book travel until you have a valid passport - doing so is at your own risk.


Note: If you withdraw your application for whatever reason, the fee is not refundable.
