Uganda UK Business Forum in Birmingham

Uganda UK Business Forum organised by Uganda High Commission, London took place on 29th May 2018 at the Birmingham City Council, Council House, Victoria Square,West Midlands, B1 1BB from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.


The event was organised in line with the mandate of the High Commission to promote close commercial and economic ties between Uganda and UK with a focus on the promotion of investment and business between UK and Uganda,communicate the market opportunities for commodities & products that Uganda can export to the UK and vice versa.


Uganda is on an ambitious mission to promote economic growth and development by creating an enabling environment for business and investment in sectors such as infrastructure; mining & minerals; modern commercial farming & agro-processing; tourism; oil & gas; energy(renewable, geothermal, solar, hydro); Health; ICT; industry &manufacturing; forestry; medical & pharmaceuticals.


The event was attended by a cross section of business and government leaders. It was also graced by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Yvonne Mosquito.  The High Commissioner, H.E. Julius Peter Moto gave the key note address on the 'Uganda's strategic location and its benefits for UK investors & businesses'.  The Honorary Consul of Uganda to Leicester and Midlands, Mr. Jaffer Kapasi, made the welcoming remarks. Among the key speakers at the Forum included Lord Dolar Popat, UK PM's Trade Envoy to Uganda and Rwanda, on the topic of 'UKEF and doing Business in Uganda'.  Other papers presented covered the following areas:
