Uganda High Commission in London holds meeting with the newly appointed market destination representative for Uganda in the UK and Ireland, AVIAREPS (UK) LTD

Uganda High Commission, London holds meeting with the newly appointed Uganda's market destination representative in the UK and Ireland AVIAREPS (UK) LTD.

Uganda's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Julius Peter Moto, has today chaired a meeting between the Uganda High Commission and the newly appointed market destination representative for Uganda in the UK and Ireland, AVIAREPS (UK) LTD.

During the meeting, the Head of Mission shared Uganda's tourism attractions and the anticipated growth in the sector targeting 2 million tourist per year in the near future.

The High Commissioner shared the immense efforts that government has undertaken to revamp the tourism sector since 1986, which include strengthening the laws on conservation of wildlife flora and fauna as well as establishment of Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute in Jinja among others
Amb. Moto also assured Uganda's market destination representative that the Government is working on revival of direct flights between Uganda and United Kingdom, which is expected to  increase the number of tourists from United Kingdom and Ireland.

Notable among the issues discussed were:

1. Efforts to market Uganda Airlines once it starts its operation to the United Kingdom.

2. Collaboration to market Uganda products in the UK and Ireland market.

3. Developing of digital platforms that can avail tourists with enough tourism information.
4. Coordination of travel agencies in UK, Ireland and Uganda.

5. Organising media events with tour operators on branding/marketing Uganda.

AVIAREPS (UK) LTD who were  represented by Ms. Joy Lacana, Head of Tourism and Mr. Andy Price, Senior Business Development Manager  pledged their collaboration with Uganda Tourism Board and the High Commission. they underscored the need for continuous sharing of information and ideas as a better way to market Uganda's vast tourist attractions.

At the end of the meeting H.E Peter Moto exchanged gifts with the guest.
