New British High Commissioner to Uganda Presents Credentials to H.E President Museveni

The new British High Commissioner to Uganda, Mrs Alison Blackburne on Monday, 3rd September 2012 presented her credentials to H.E President Museveni at State House Entebbe. Mrs Blackburne has been Her Majesty's Consul General in Washington, USA.

She said she was elated to begin serving in Uganda, a former British colony, in a year when the country marks 50 years of independence.

\r\n\r\n

“I look forward to having the opportunity to lead the UK’s engagement with Uganda across the wide range of issues where we have shared interests, and to develop further the strong bilateral relationship,” she said.

\r\n\r\n

She replaces Mr. Martin Shearman whom the Foreign and Commonwealth Office says will be “transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment”.

\r\n\r\n

President Museveni warmly welcomed her to Uganda and wished her all the successes possible in her new assignment in Uganda. Mrs Blackburne also previously served as Deputy Head of the British Mission in Jakarta, Indonesia.
