INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS (w.e.f: 6th June 2018)


The Passport Department at the Uganda High Commission is open to the public for submissions and collections between Monday to Friday from 10:00a.m. to 1:00pm only (except on Public Holidays in Uganda and the United Kingdom). NOTE: ALL FEES PAID TO UGANDA HIGH COMMISSION SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED!

Applications for passports may be submitted by mail or in person. A stamped, self addressed, registered envelope with sufficient postage (special or recorded delivery) must be included with applications submitted by mail.

It takes 10 working days for a passport application to be processed from the date the High Commission receives the application. Please only contact the High Commission regarding your passport after 10 working days (excludes weekends and Uganda/UK Public Holidays) has passed.


APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:


PASSPORT RENEWAL

1. Fully completed Form A, Form B and the Consular Registration Form Incomplete forms may cause delay to the passport renewal process.

2. Two (2) identical passport size photographs. 

Acceptable Photos:

- Uganda passport photo size is 2x2 inches.

- Taken within the past 6 months, showing current appearance.

- Colour (NOTE: Black and white are not accepted.)

- Full face photo with neutral facial expression, both eyes open and both ears visible.

- Plain white or Clear glossy background.

Applicants with photos that do not meet these criteria shall be rejected.

3. The old passport to be renewed/replaced (you will get this back with your new passport.)

4. If you are changing your profession as stated in your current passport, you must provide a letter from your employer confirming your job title. If this is not provided, your profession will remain as in your current passport.

5. Fee: 75.00GBP

6. If you would like the High Commission to send back your new passport by post, applicants must include a special delivery stamped addressed envelope.

Please note that passports may be renewed six months before the expiry date.


FIRST CHILD PASSPORT

1. Fully completed Form A, Form B and the Consular Registration Form

2. Two (2) identical passport size photographs. 

Acceptable Photos:

- Uganda passport photo size is 2x2 inches.

- Taken within the past 6 months, showing current appearance.

- Colour (NOTE: Black and white are not accepted.)

- Full face photo with neutral facial expression, both eyes open and both ears visible.

- Plain white or Clear glossy background.

Applicants with photos that do not meet these criteria should be rejected.

3. Original Birth Certificate stating names of parents.

4. Original Passport for either parent named on the original birth certificate.

LOST PASSPORT

5. Sworn Affidavit/Statutory Declaration pertaining to citizenship and the fact surrounding loss of the passport.

CHANGE OF NAMES IN THE PASSPORT.

A. Under The Oaths Act (Cap 19,) The Births and Deaths Registration Act Cap 309 and The Registration of Documents Act (Cap 81) any person desirous of changing his or her names can do so.

  1. Find a lawyer to prepare/draft for you a deed poll stating the changes you are making.
  2.  Sign the deed poll and have it commissioned by commissioner of OATHS.
  3. Have a copy of deed poll published in either Uganda Gazette or any newspaper of wide circulation in Uganda.
  4. Take deed poll for assessment of registration fee either at Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) or Diamond Trust Bank.
  5. Proceed and pay the registration fee as directed.
  6. File both the copies of deed poll and payment receipt to registrar of documents/births and death at URSB, you should be advised when to pick your copies.
  7. Deed poll should be given a file number and forwarded to the registrar.
  8. Deed poll should be reviewed and registered by registrar.
  9. Cross check with the registrar's office to pick your registered deed poll on the date you were told to check.
As a result of marriage
  1. Follow all the steps in A above.
  2. Attach a copy of the original deed poll as advertised in Uganda Gazette.
  3. Formal written request for changes to be made.
  4. Original marriage certificate N.B: The original copy of the marriage certificate shall be returned to you.
As a result of circumstance
  1. Follow all the steps in A above.
  2. Attach a copy of the original deed poll as advertised in Uganda Gazette to effect such a change. 
  3. Formal written request for changes to be made. 

EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT

1. Fully completed Form A, Form B and the Consular Registration Form. Incomplete forms will delay the renewal process.

2.  Two (2) identical passport size photographs. Must be coloured and show all facial features and both ears. The photographs must have a clean white background. 

3. Formal written request for an Emergency Travel Document including 6 contacts in Uganda.

4. Fee: 80.00GBP

Note:

i) An Emergency Travel Document is a one-way travel document to Uganda and it can only be issued after exhaustive inquiries have been made. Passports reported lost will be declared null and void.

ii) Application for an Emergency Travel Document for Minors (under 16) must be accompanied by

(a) Written consent from parents;

(b) Passport of the parents;

(c) Original Birth Certificate;

(d) One passport photograph of both parents.

iii) An Emergency Travel Document is valid for seven (7) days from date of issue.


Important Notes

1. Applicants for Passport /Travel Documents must be citizens of Uganda

2. All application forms must be fully completed. Uncompleted application forms will not be processed.

3. Applicants are advised to verify and ensure that all requirements have been fulfilled. This will facilitate the expeditious processing of applications.

4. Applications by post must be accompanied by a stamped, self-addressed registered envelope

5. Applicants are requested to send the exact money for all fees paid

6. Applicants may be requested for additional supporting documentation, in addition to the above.

7. Passports are processed on first come first serve basis.


Don't book travel until you have a valid passport - doing so is at your own risk.


Note: If you withdraw your application for whatever reason, the fee is not refundable.
