Bristol UK, Makerere University and the University of the West of England Sign Partnership in Education and Research
Today in Bristol UK, Makerere University and the University of the West of England have finalized a historic Memorandum of Understanding, paving the way for a groundbreaking partnership in education and research.
The MOU, finalized by High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda to the UK, HE Nimisha, Counsellor Miriam Otengo, Mr. Emmanuel Kitamirike of Makerere University and Professor Jo Midgley, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of the West of England, is set to be signed in April at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
This strategic partnership aims to foster collaboration in STEM fields, aligning with Uganda's National Development Plans and President Museveni's vision. The partnership will focus on several key areas, including:
Public Health: Collaborative research projects will address pressing public health challenges facing Uganda and the global community.
- Agriculture: The partnership will explore innovative approaches to sustainable agriculture, food security, and rural development.
- Climate Science: Researchers will work together to understand the impacts of climate change and develop strategies for mitigation and adaptation.
Law and Technology: The partnership will explore the intersection of law and technology, focusing on issues like intellectual property, cybersecurity, and digital rights.

Law Moots: Students will participate in competitive legal argumentation and develop advocacy skills.
Joint Degree Programmes: The partnership will explore joint degree programs, allowing students to benefit from the expertise and resources of both institutions.
