Ambassador Nimisha Madhvani presents Credentials to President of Ireland on 28 November 2023
H.E. Nimisha Madhvani Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda accredited to Ireland, presented her Letters of Credence to the President of Ireland, H.E. Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin (Presidential House), Dublin on 28 November, 2023.
She was accompanied by Ms Shifa Madhvani and the Deputy Head of Mission, Amb. John Leonard Mugerwa.
Ambassador Nimisha conveyed fraternal greetings from H.E. President Yoweri Museveni and expressed Uganda’s appreciation for Ireland's support and development cooperation in priority areas particularly education, agriculture, health and governance. She pledged to further strengthen relations between the two countries. She pointed out that Uganda Airlines could consider establishing direct flights between Entebbe and Dublin with possibility of codeshare with AerLingus which would boost bilateral trade, tourism and investment.
H.E. President Higgins noted with satisfaction the existing cordial bilateral relations and recalled his previous visits to Uganda prior to becoming President. He commended HE President Yoweri Museveni for his role in regional peace and security as well as Uganda’s hosting of refugees. He underscored the need to scale up cooperation between Ireland and Uganda.
H.E. Ambassador Nimisha Madhvani later hosted a Vin d’Honneur Reception at Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin attended by the Chief of Protocol Amb Paul Kavanagh, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, officials from the Irish government, business executives and the Ugandan community in Ireland. Ugandan Mission officials in attendance included Ms Miriam Otengo, Counsellor, Ms. Teopista Kabahweza and Mr Simon Makuyi.
Ambassador Nimisha will hold separate meetings on 29 November 2023 with Hon. Sean Flemming TD, Minister of State for International Development and Executives of an aviation company interested in doing business in Uganda.
